I write for both adults and children. This site has excerpts from my novels and complete short stories too. There are also audio stories, and previews of unpublished work. I hope you enjoy exploring! After you're done, click the link above if you'd like to see reviews and more at Amazon. To give me any feedback, click the Twitter button at the top of the page, or leave a comment on my blog page.
As a 'taster' of my writing, here are two (rather grim) stories told in less than fifty words. These were entries for Scottish Book Trust's monthly 50 word story competition. Anyone can enter - follow the link at my 'Links to my favourites' page if you want to have a go!
THE SILENCE OF THE WOODS
In the silent woods, I see her. She sees me not. She follows the path. I follow her. She hears my footfall in the leaf mould. Sssh! I hide, but let her glimpse. Her feet fly. My breath is at her ear. My teeth. Her hood turns red.
I threw down the hateful map. It curled into itself like a dying animal on the baking sand. For days I had followed its dotted lines through the desert: twisted lines of lies. Now the looked-for lake was a dish of clay. Sun-circling raptors stared me down.
